So Do You Do Your Job or What Is Right?

So often the internal conflict pops it ugly head into our otherwise mundane existence we call life, that our values begin to be twisted until we can no longer stand it. I am of course speaking about the struggle between our moral compass and our source of income we call the “job”.

I’m sure I’m not the only person who has felt this great divide in our lives,, the divide between right and “technically right”, but I’m going to ask a jury to do the right thing today and tomorrow. The law will tell them they must do the “technically right” thing, but the right thing is totally different than the technically right thing.

You know, I’m not much of a student of those organized religions, but I wonder if the message sent by the leaders of these institutions called religion, would follow man’s law when they bomb clinics. Or I wonder if they would claim that for God’s greater good,, they had to bomb the clinics to destroy those who believe differently than they do,, and thus they should not be punished but set free, because they are following God’s law.

In their minds, they are not doing their job of following man’s law, but doing what they feel is right by God’s law. In their minds,  they have done the right thing versus doing their job.  So how will these same people feel when it comes to doing the right thing  when a “criminal” may go free? Ironic, isn’t it?

Does their God want everyone born into slavery who doesn’t think like they think? How about those that follow the teachings of their God, but exercise their free will and vote differently than they vote? Is that cause for death in their religion? Is it cause for banishment from their tribe?

I wonder if humanity is so persuaded by that boob tube, that we can not even see the truth anymore, that we have become a nation of “haters” simply because Fox News says so.

How can a message of love ever by heard when so much hate is preached on TV? You know, in central Texas the bible belt is very strong and those who go to their church on Sunday are ready to kill on Monday. Have they forget the lessons their God teaches them? Do we execute everyone who doesn’t believe the way they do?

Man, I don’t know, but I’ll tell you this,,, a jury will do the right thing and give justice, if it is right,, regardless of the law. Have a nice day, I’m off to trial.
